The BF-109 E was the fighter mainstay of the Battle of Britain for the mighty
German Luftwaffe. Beset by problems of range, and bad tactical directives
from German Headquarters, it suffered losses accordingly. While the
Bf-109E was accorded a better rate of climb, and of dive than either the
Spitfire or the Hurricane, it could not turn as rapidly. The yellow nose
of the "109" became one the most feared sights to have behind you
should you be flying for the R.A.F. at the time of the Eagle Squadron in
1941, the Bf-109E-3, 4, 7s were being replaced by the first F models with
improved engines and a centered firepower. Also coming onto the scene were
