HEAD’S UP!
AND THE WINNERS ARE…..
The 1st Annual IPMS Rob Wolf In-Club
contest was a great success, with over 50 models being entered by members of
the chapter (and in some cases, their children).
See page 2 for the breakdown of the winners!
AND CAN YOU BELIEVE???
In honor of the 1st Annual IPMS Rob Wolf
In-Club contest, our very own Cal Hawkins not only BUILT a model, but also
presented it for competition, and even PLACED!
See page 5 for visual proof! Congratulations
Cal!! Those of us who didn’t build
anything for the contest bow our heads in shame (myself included).
MINUTES FOR JANUARY, 2004
Due to
our 1st annual club contest, there was no former meeting, therefore
there are no minutes. See you next
month. By the way – Great Contest!!! --

We got 2004 off to a rousing good
start with our January In-Club Contest!
Many thanks to our participants (23 of you entered 60 models) and
congratulations to our winners who are listed elsewhere in the newsletter [See
page 3, Ed.]. The general consensus
seems to be that it was a pretty well organized and enjoyable event. A few of you even mentioned that we should
make it an annual happening. I am
certainly amenable to that idea and we can discuss it at February’s meeting.
I would like to single out a few
individuals for their efforts in making the contest a success, in particular,
Jack Lassiter for originating the idea and serving as contest chairman. My appreciation also goes out to Cliff
Davis, Mark Persichetti, and Terry Tutyshaevers for their administrative work;
Mike McDanal for taking care of ordering the prizes (nice work Mike – they
looked very good); David Reinecke for his printing assistance; and Derek Brown
for making a photographic record of the contest. Also, I would be quite remiss if I didn’t give a special salute
to those of you who served as judges.
Again, thanks to all contest
participants for all your hard work in completing your models (you are all
winners in that regard) and congratulation t our contest winners!
I would also like to thank Jim
Hammond, owner of Blue Yonder Hobbies (Iliff and Chambers in Aurora) for
stopping by the contest and bringing us a gift certificate, which we ended up
raffling off as a door prize.
Since we don’t have a program
scheduled for February’s meeting, that leaves time open for a leisurely
“Show-n-Tell”. Feel free to bring in
your contest entry and hold forth on the work involved in the project.
Speaking of projects, if any of you
get the urge to make a detailed model of the Me-109, our very own Derek Brown
has produced a CD of the Me-109G10 that may be the ultimate research volume for
that aircraft (information on it is applicable to other G models). I hope you all got a chance to view it at
the contest – I am just about motivated to join the “wired world” so I can use
it on my own Me-109 project. May it be
a great commercial success for you
Derek!
